This is why I think Hayao Miyazaki is awesome, some may think backward thinking but it's his ideology and keeping with tradition, I bet all those extra animators must appreciate learning real technique in their animating and acing the basics. I mean if they decide they've learnt enough or achieved all they can, they'll take what they know and put it to use elsewhere (just look at the explosion in popularity in animation). Backward thinking keeps tradition alive...

Ponyo is a excellent film that I watched a few months back. Highly recommended,

LOL..yeah, I guess you could put it that way.

The other way you could put it is: Miyazaki is the single most consistently brilliant animated filmmaker of all time, so who really cares if he's a miserable sod? He's a bit old to be changing his views and ways of working - plus if it ain't broke, don't fix it..

Hi Dan,

Always happy to get people to check out your site - by far the best Ghibli source out there.

And nah, I voted for the Japanese one. But I've used that a couple of times already on here, so fancied a change. I don't hate the US one - I can see why they've gone with that style, hopefully it'll pull in some Pixar/Nemo fans.

Oh, and I'm just about to edit your name in the post - sorry man, I messed it up. How rude of me ;)

Hey, that's great. Thanks for sharing the word. And judging by the poster, does that mean you voted for the US Ponyo poster? What about the pie?
