Can't the boy ever get the girl? This is more then depressing! With all of the beautiful imagery in this mini movie, you'd think that there just has to be a happy ending. Don't you? The you see them passing each other at the train crossing, my question is was this before or after she got married? And if before then why did she disappear? For the record, Makoto-san's films are amazingly beautiful, but he relies heavily on narration, while Miyazaki's films, though beautiful too, is very character driven, almost never uses narration, and the background art never take precedence. At the risk of getting stoned to death by Makoto Shinkai fans, extremely talented as he is, Makoto isn't nearly in the same league as Miyazaki - at least not yet.
