I like the anime. It's one of my favourites. For something already so good, the live action movie must be astronomically good to surpass it. Even then, I'm not sure if it will be able to capture all the subtly of Cowboy Bebop.

Ahhh, now that's the dream scenario...Tarantino...

Well, they haven't announced a director yet..and he's always said he wanted to work in different genres. Watanabe was clearly influenced by his films when making CB...

Hmmmm. Well, we can but dream...

I was just thinking, how excited I would be if this post was more along the lines of. After long discussion Watanabe and Tarantino have begun plans to bring Cowboy Bebop to the big screen.

I still say if Keanu wants to prove his love he needs to do everything he can do get Watanabe completely on board and directing this.

sigh. . .

They could do this so wrong or Oh So Right.

The biggest problem I have with this is. Why not just pay Shinichiro Watanabe to do another animated series or film? Give him the budget and time and he would be directing Oscar worthy films without questions and would really break some ground. A U.S. funded Watanabe film or series would be mind boggling(ly?) awesome.

Keanu seems like he could fit the role fairly well actually, and he seems to have the right head about it from what I have heard. Stephen Chow would be a freaking awesome choice though! I would love to see that! Or maybe even the guy from House of Flying Daggers and Chungking Express.

The rest of the casting seems impossibly hard though. Finding someone to match Ed's english vocal performance seems like it would be impossible.

Gah, the more I think about this the less I want to see it done, for an actor to match a character that is already so well developed will be extremely difficult.

I would like to see them work with the original writers and Watanabe to develop and entirely new script, if they do anything at all.

And I agree, if Yoko Kanno is not involved I may throw some very angry words towards the studio involved

I really can't say I'm a big fan of Cowboy Bebop, although the animation is quite amazing. Keanu Reeves as the lead ? I dunno, I just hope they'll respect the source material more than they did for Dragonball - Evolution.
